“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.” – John F. Kennedy
Do you even lift?
I gotta tell ya, I have no idea what that means. It one of those new internet memes, that it would seem unless you’re in the “in” crowd, you don’t get the joke. Well I’m not one of the “in”crowd, but I think I’m working on it. You see this meme seems to be coming from the fitness crowd out there and I, dear reader am on a fitness kick.
About 6 weeks ago I embarked on a journey, not really sure where I’m headed, but one thing is for sure it’s a good place.
I’ve kinda been inspired by friends and some close people around me. Some amazing people in my life have worked super hard and lost some equally amazing amounts of weight over the past few years and it’s pretty hard not to be inspired.
Now sure those who know me might say I’m not fat, and I’m not really, but as I approach the magic age of 40, I’ve got what most blokes my age get and that’s a bit round in places that never used to be round.
Now I used to be fit, many years as an Army Reservist meant I kept pretty fit, but after “retiring” I kinda stopped running and going to the gym and basically became lazy. I don’t really like what I’ve become, and I’ve decided it’s time I did something about it.
So I’m going to use my blog as place to help keep me honest. I’m going to tell you what I’ve been up to, how I’m travelling, maybe use this fitness section to help me set goals. You may even have suggestions for me for goals to set. I’d be happy to hear your thoughts and who knows, may be this page will inspire you to get off the couch!
So look out world, I might not be able to achieve the elusive rock hard 6 Pack abs, but you never know until you try! Hell I might even find out what the hell the “do you even lift?” memes are all about!
Until next time, see you out running!
